Following on from their stunning debut EP It Might Grow, which was released back in June, Sweden-based Finns Sofia and Johan Stolpe, aka. Pole Siblings have unveiled the lead cut from their next EP. It’s a stripped-back, but incredibly powerful single called ‘Carve’ that sees the duo exploring a darker side of their songwriting.

‘Carve’ is a deceivingly beautiful and softly-spoken track, considering the cold-blooded imagery that reveals itself in the lyrics with closer listening. As Sofia’s gentle vocals float over the slow build of guitar and drums, she shares her vengeful vision: “I’m gonna carve my name into your flesh, it’s true (…) I’m going to kill you”. However morbid this might sound, the vulnerable anger that permeates ‘Carve’ is deeply touching and the eerie juxtaposition of words and sound makes for a striking listen.

Pole Siblings’ forthcoming EP Sköljer Bort Deg (which translates to Wash You Away) will be out via Strangers Candy on April 6th. If ‘Carve’ is anything to go by, we can expect a string of evocative and absolutely excellent tracks, so don’t miss out – give ‘Carve’ a spin below:
