It’s been fairly quiet from Norwegian singer-songwriter Jonas Alaska for a little while, after the Norwegian singer-songwriter took some time off following a heavy touring schedule around the release of his third album, 2015’s Younger. But he finally returned properly last week, when he premiered a brand new single on Norwegian radio station NRK P3.

‘The Moon & The Steeple’ is a dreamy, gentle song, that pitches its tent stylistically between late-MGMT and John Lennon’s piano ballads. A lyrical tribute to his hometown of Åmli, it’s got an easy charm, a wistful piece of soulful soft-pop that is hard not to get hooked on. And it comes with a homemade video, mobile-phone filmed and edited by Alaska himself.

‘The Moon & The Steeple’ is out now, and Alaska’s new album Fear Is A Demon is out in October.
