We’ve got a very exciting competition to share with our Ja Ja Ja members today, as we offer up a pair of tickets to attend a performance of Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason‘s joint work Music For Sólaris at the Barbican Centre in London!
Two of Iceland’s most respected and revered composers, Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason (both from the acclaimed Icelandic record label Bedroom Community) joined forces back in 2010 to create a brand new score for the classic sci-fi movie Solaris. And now, 7 years later, the pair are set to bring their visionary re-working back to life, complete with visuals provided by none other than Brian Eno and collaborator Nick Robertson.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Solaris started out life as a widely acclaimed novel penned by Polish author Stanisław Lem. The narrative is based around a psychologist heading to a space station on the planet Solaris, where he’s met with unexpected characters, and emotional and psychological challenges of a kind that have never before been experienced. Adapted for the silver screen by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky in 1972, the film has since reached cult status, and now Frost and Bjarnason’s collaboration offers up an entirely new sonic experience to accompany the narrative.
The performance of Music For Sólaris will take place on Saturday 29th July at the Barbican Centre in London, and we’ve got one pair of tickets to give away to a lucky winner, so here’s what you need to do to enter!
