‘Breaking Bones’ is the second single to be shared from Icelandic quartet Vök‘s upcoming album Figure, and it highlights the new, edgier direction that the band are heading in.
Following on from the sublime ‘Show Me‘, this latest single is the second from the group now they have added the talents of Einar Stef on percussion to their line-up. While it still features the familiar, breathy vocals of Margrét Rán, against a synth-heavy backdrop, ‘Breaking Bones’ represents a slightly darker and more full sound for the band. Extra layers of percussion and a strong blend of futuristic sounds combine to create a dreamy soundscape – there’s enough familiar qualities here to keep fans of their earlier material happy, alongside some new sounds, that followers of The xx and The Knife will enjoy.
The album Figure‘ is due for release on Friday 28th April on Nettwerk Music Group/Record Records, but ‘Breaking Bones’ is available to stream below now. The band are also currently on a European tour to promote the album, with tickets available online now.
