Blood Forest Family, a six-member strong alt-pop band (Elina Waage Mikalsen, Gustav Jørgensen, Håvard Olsen, Sigbjørn Sand Johansen, Sindre Bjørkli Ramberg and Patrick Riganò Jaklin) are the next big thing to emerge from the Tromsø scene. They’ve been gigging around northern Norway for a while now, and they’re gearing up to break out into the wider world. They’re releasing an self-titled EP (recorded last year at Klangkollektivet Studio in Bergen) on February 15th, and they’ve just put out their debut single ‘Body’.
This song is dance-pop done right. ‘Body’ is a song loaded with sparkling rhythm and groove, powered by rippling basslines and skittering guitars. Elina Waage Mikalsen’s vocal sits delicately on top of the rhythms, touching the track with an extra layer of depth and feeling, before it into a sweeping chorus. It’s a hell of an earworm, and if the band can replicate this form across their EP it’ll be an outstanding release. ‘Body’ is out now – take a listen below.
