If there’s one group you need to keep an obsessive-compulsive watch out for in 2017, it’s probably GANGLY. The Icelandic super-trio (Jófríður Ákadóttir from Samaris, Úlfur Alexander Einarsson from Oyama and Sindri Már Sigfússon aka Sin Fang) released their second single ‘Holy Grounds‘ a few months ago, and signed up to Universal imprint AMF Records, so it seems that big things are on the way. Now we have another song from the group, ‘Blow Out’.
‘Blow Out’ is a soft, metronomic song, more sombre in tone than ‘Holy Grounds’. Synths dance and flow around Ákadóttir’s vocal, before it blooms into a big-hitting chorus. ‘Blow Out”s cold electronic sound, alternating between murky atmospherics and crystal clarity, mean that it’s a long way from conventional popular music. But there’s a power in this sound that means it wouldn’t be surprising if this goes big, very soon. ‘Blow Out’ is out now.
