Upping the already peaking anticipation levels for their return appearance at Iceland Airwaves Festival next week, Icelanders Vök share a new track, ‘Show Me’ – and it’s got us all steaming like a geothermal spa.

As with their last outing, ‘Waiting’, Vök again prove their songwriting versatility. Produced by Brett Cox (Jack Garratt, Tusks), ‘Show Me’ turns down the beat, but turns up the heat. Margrét Rán’s impassioned voice casts a spell as we drift eerily through scattered samples, distant sax and synth contours gently laced with shimmering guitar. The song’s rich cinematic quality, summons the contrasting, ephemeral spirits of the beautiful, yet often hostile Icelandic landscapes.

There’s nothing foreboding about this band though, as they’ve become firm Ja Ja Ja favourites these past three years and, as experienced at our German club nights this year, their electrifying live shows inspire a whole new level of devotion. If you’re Iceland-bound next week, make sure Vök are on your must-see list!

‘Show Me’ is out now, on the band’s own label Vök ehf and you can see them play at The 405‘s Iceland Airwaves showcase at Reykjavik Art Museum, on Friday 4th November.
