Ólafur Arnalds has been travelling around Iceland over the past few weeks, recording unique, new musical creations with local musicians around his home country.

The series, named Island Songs, has revealed such stunning songs as ‘Dalur’, ‘Raddir‘ so far, as well as last week’s release ‘Particles’ which featured Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir from Of Monsters and Men.

Now the journey has been completed with the seventh and final song ‘Doria’, for which Ólafur invited his closest friends and members of his family to join him in the legendary Reykjavík venue Iðnó. Of the song, Ólafur states:

“Reykjavík is my home. It’s where I live, work and play. For this final week I wanted to concentrate on the people around me who inspire those pieces. Because ultimately it is people, rather than places that inspire music and art.”

Ólafur also revealed that more is to come from this project, as a feature film about the adventure is now in the works. Want to find out more? Then head to Ólafur’s Island Songs website…
