Each Monday, we sum up the past week’s biggest Nordic releases on the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist, and the huge news of last week in the Nordic pop sphere is undoubtedly the release of Kygo’s debut album, Cloud Nine!
Norway’s new master of tropical house has been sending his summer vibes across the world for quite some time already, and there almost hasn’t been a week in the past few months without a track, teaser or sound from coming from camp Kygo. Last Friday however, the time finally arrived to drop the beast of an album that Kygo has been cooking since last year, and what a collection of songs it is!
To honour the release, we decided to put two of the hottest unheard tracks from the LP on the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist, ‘Fiction’ and ‘Oasis’. We’ve seen Kygo successfully team up with artists such as Maty Noyes, Labrinth, James Vincent McMarrow and Kodaline recently, and Cloud Nine continues in this tradition, as it’s packed full of guests. ‘Fiction’ and ‘Oasis’ see him join forces with Brits Tom Odell and Foxes respectively, to deliver feel-good acoustic pop as well as a powerful ballad. The previous singles from Kygo, ‘Fragile’ and ‘Raging’, can also be found further down on the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist.
Other tracks in this week’s update are ‘Bad News’ by Denmark’s OMVR, a new collaboration by Zara Larsson together with David Guetta and MØ’s latest single ‘Final Song’, which you can read more about right here!
