Rasmus Stolberg and Tatu Rönkkö from Danish/Finnish collaboration Liima joined us at the cosy Nordic Playlist caravan at by:Larm Festival to talk about their upcoming album ii!

Liima is the latest project and brainchild of Danish collective Efterklang and Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö. Initially, the four musicians came together for the art and crossover event Our Festival in Finland, where they collaborated for ten days to come up with a musical work to premiere at the event. From this collaboration, a special idea war born and the band Liima emerged fully formed.

Their debut album ii, set to be released on 18th March through revered label 4AD, consists of songs written during residencies in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul and Madeira, each of the songs created over the course of a day, with each setting influencing the sound and style of the music. This immersive way of writing music was then rounded up by a performance of the freshly written songs to an small and engaged audience.

Besides inviting Liima to create an exclusive Nordic Playlist packed full of their favourite Finnish and Danish tracks, we also sat down with Rasmus and Tatu in the Nordic Playlist caravan at by:Larm Festival to find out more about their collaboration and their upcoming release…
