Sweden’s Tove Lo is back with another sure-to-be hit, and the second song she’s penned for the silver screen!
Tove Lo returns with a brand new track entitled ‘Scars’, a song that will be featured on the soundtrack for the third film adaption of the Divergent book series, called ‘Allegiant’.
Having wrapped up her busy 2015 touring schedule in the US in December, Tove Lo is reportedly already working on the follow up to her last album Queen of the Clouds. And as well as working on new music for an upcoming album, she’s also finding the time to drop some extra treats, such as ‘Scars’ – a swirly piece of pristine pop, and a perfect opening for this week’s update of the Trenda: New Nordic Pop-playlist.
The new track is also the first single to be released from the The Divergent Series: Allegiant movie soundtrack, and judging by previous soundtracks for films in the same genre (we’re thinking Twilight and The Hunger Games), this film won’t be short of moody, dark pop accompaniments, performed by the hottest artists of the moment.
The song is not the first that Tove Lo has written for the Hollywood screen though – her song ‘Scream My Name’ was on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1. Together with fellow Swedes Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, as well as Savan Kotecha from the US and Ali Payami from Iran, Tove put together the international pop mega-hit ‘Love Me Like You Do’. The song was performed by Ellie Goulding and appeared on the soundtrack to Fifty Shades of Grey, a success that earned the writers a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Song Written For Visual Media’- let’s see if “Scars’ will go on to gather the same momentum!
