A Swedish challenger makes a strong entry on the Nordic chart in his native country!

The past year has been high season for Norwegian electronic artists, and at the forefront of the wave has surfed Kygo, who recently won the prestigious Spellemannprisen for Spellemann of the Year in Norway. Other Norwegian artists such as Sandra Lyng, Tungevaag & Raaban and Alan Walker, have all shown a solid presence across the Trenda: Nordic Charts in the region in the past months too. For instance, Alan Walker recently occupied the top spot in three countries.

In Sweden, Otto Knows might be the artist and produder who will turn the trend, with a little help from Lindsey Stirling and Alex Aris. Together the trio perform ‘Dying For You’, a track we saw added to the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist recently. Otto Knows emerged in around 2010 and has been closely linked to the magical names of Swedish EDM, like Avicii, Alesso and Ingrosso. In 2012 he released ‘Million Voices’, which entered several charts across Europe and remains his biggest hit to date. However, ‘Dying For You’ might change that.

‘Dying For You’ was introduced in mid-January and came into live shape during Otto Knows’s appearance during the P3 Guld Awards gala in Gothenburg. The song is EDM with a twist, as it features Lindsey Stirling on violin, who can also be seen in the newly released music video. Alex Aris provides the vocals, and since its release, the song has reportedly been streamed over 5 million times, posing a serious threat to the Norwegian dominance on the Swedish Nordic chart, as it enters in position three, right behind ‘Stay’ by Kygo and ‘Faded’ by Alan Walker. Do we see a new prince of Swedish pop taking over the stage?!
