This week’s update to the Trenda: Nordic Chart sees Eurovision hopefuls and up and coming boy bands taking the top spots!
The Trenda: Nordic Charts have been freshly updated to present a playlist packed with all of the top selling and streaming Nordic tracks in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and one thing that stands out is the swathe of young and talented Norwegian producers of electronic music topping the charts throughout the region! One such artist who has stayed atop of the Trenda: Nordic Charts in all of the Nordic countries for a good while now is Alan Walker, who sees his pole position overtaken this week by homegrown talents Samir & Viktor in Sweden with the song ‘Bada nakna’, and Sanni with ‘Että mitähän vittua’ in Finland.
Newcomers on the Trenda: Nordic Chart in Norway include the boy band Suite 16, who enter in position ten with their track ‘Who I Wanna Be’. The song was actually already released in 2015, but following the group’s participation in the Norwegian try-outs for the Eurovision, where Suite 16 competes with the song ‘Anna Lee’, it has gained new momentum and made its way into the charts, replacing Sandra Lyng‘s ‘Night After Night’.
And another band breaking into the Trenda: Nordic Chart in Denmark is pop group Lighthouse X with ‘Soldiers of Love’, a song that will also represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest. The name of the track, in addition to being a perfect fit for the Eurovision, is also a reference to the social cause the group is working for: Lighthouse X are official ambassadors of three non-profit organisations to which they also donate some of the band’s profit. But is the track good enough to crown them Eurovision winners? We’ll soon find out…
