Nordic and international artists continue to team up to create flawless new pop!

We’ve seen several international collaborations with and between Nordic artists recently, spanning from global mega releases to co-produced tracks that have gone viral. To name a few, there is Tove Lo’s feature on Coldplay’s latest album, Zara Larsson‘s collaboration with MNEK and very recently, the track ‘Don’t Look Back’ by Sweden’s Ben Phipps and Californian producer and songwriter Ashe.

This week’s Trenda: New Nordic Pop Playlist update reveals even more new combinations of creative minds from the Nordics teaming up with talent from the rest of the world…

Coldplay have lent their single ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ from their latest album A Head Full of Dreams to Norwegian producer Matoma, who gave the familiar tune a tropical touch, fit for any pop royalty.

Coldplay have been seen to trust the Nordic skills previously, as Swedish artist/songwriter/producer Tove Lo featured on the track ‘Fun’ from A Head Full of Dreams, and the whole album was produced by Norwegian production powerhouse Stargate. Matoma on the other hand, has been very busy all winter releasing collaborations with other artists, such as Astrid S, Akon and Nico & Vinz, some of which can also be found on the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist.

AURORA is having a very busy time following the release of her latest single ‘Conqueror’ a few weeks back. Now she unveils an appearance on a track called ‘Home’ by UK producer duo Icarus. The track is instrumental and AURORA lends her voice to the ethereal background vocals, sweeping across the beats as the song rolls on over a hill – (or fjell-) covered soundscape, a powerful demonstration in both vocal and production skills.

Danish producer/DJ Slowolf has been keeping a fairly low profile since the release of his EP Wolf Grey in 2014. That said, he’s kept himself busy with numerous collaborations in the mean time, mostly involving folks from the other side of the pond, as he’s based in LA.

The latest release is called ‘The Ring’ and marks a first taste of the new EP he’s got cooking. It’s a collaboration with US rapper Pell, whose latest album Limbo was released last year to much critical acclaim.
