We just added 22 new tracks to the Trenda: New Nordic Pop-playlist on Spotify, and among the exciting new Nordic releases we find Lemaitre, Christopher, Highasakite and many more!

First of all it’s no question which is the highest profile track in this week’s playlist update – at least if you talk streaming numbers. Since its release on Friday, ‘Limousine’, by award-winning Danish pop star Christopher and Norwegian rap-duo Madcon, has already been streamed over 300,000 times. The release is the follow up to Christopher’s hit from 2015 ‘Tulips’, which took him all the way to China to perform when it was released!

As reported last week, Norway’s Highasakite recently revealed that the first track from their upcoming album was about to be unveiled, and following its release last Friday, the song was obviously added straight to the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist! ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’ is an exciting amuse-bouche from the brand new record that the band are cooking up, and now we’re eagerly awaiting for more! Their previous album Silent Treatment stayed on the Top 40 album chart in Norway for 94 weeks, so there’s quite a lot to live up to for this one!

While waiting, tune in to Highasakite’s own Nordic Playlist and check out their recommendations!

Norway’s Lemaitre finally released the tension last Friday and revealed their much awaited EP called 1749. The track list contains both the hit from last year ‘Closer’ as well as ‘Stepping Stone’, a track the duo released in collaboration with Mark Johns earlier this year. For ‘Nishio 2’, a track taken from the release and featured on this week’s Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist, Lemaitre teamed up with American producer and Hype Machine chart regular, Charlie Yin, a.k.a. Giraffage, together creating a rework or ‘sequel’ to the 2010 track ‘Nishio’.

As the sugar at the bottom, this week we present a track called ‘We Run’ by iSHi, featuring French Montana, Raekwon and Wale. Last year, Swedish hip-hop producer iSHi made a promise of sorts by kicking off his Spring Pieces mixtape by teasing a snippet of this particular track. This year he comes good on that promise by dropping the full track featuring US hip-hop heavyweights French Montana and Wale, as well as genuine rap royalty in Raekwon. The song has already racked up over 200,000 streams and is grabbing attention in the US as well!
