2015 saw two editions of the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar take place, with live streamed radio shows and performances being broadcast from our specially made hubs at by:Larm Festival in Oslo and Berlin Festival!

The Nordic Playlist Radio Bars become hot spots for catching special, stripped back performances from the festivals’ headliners, as well as providing cosy spaces in which to listen to some of Europe’s finest broadcasters sharing their passion for Nordic music.

A particular highlight of the Radio Bar programming this year came from legendary Icelandic electronic outfit GusGus, who, after taking to a stage in front of a 20,000 strong crowd at the 2015 edition of Berlin Festival, joined us at the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar to play an intimately rowdy set to some of their biggest fans, the first instrumental set that the band have ever performed!

Berlin Festival was just one event that featured in a particularly celebratory year for GusGus, as 2015 marked the 20th anniversary of the release of the outfit’s self-titled debut album and their first foray into the world of music.

Now, 20 years on, the band are as prolific and as striking as ever, with nine albums under their belt, the most recent being 2014’s Mexico as well as latest track ‘Sailor Kid’ and an EP’s worth of remixes for their track ‘Airwaves’ which appeared earlier this year.

An ever revolving cast of players has helped to build the history of GusGus, and throughout their career, the band have hosted the talents of some of Iceland’s most prestigious musicians including Nordic Playlist curators Emilíana Torrini and Högni Egilsson. Find out more about the history of GusGus in an exclusive filmed interview with the band’s Biggi Veira, as he takes us on a tour of his favourite places in Iceland…

As the musically bountiful year that was 2015 draws to a close, what better way to celebrate than to re-live GusGus’s fantastic live performance from the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar at Berlin Festival?

Check it out now, and prepare to dance your way from 2015 to 2016 with the finest possible soundtrack…
