On the 15th February, the 58th Grammy Awards show will be held in Los Angeles. And the Nordic countries have extra reason to celebrate since several of them are represented among the nominees!

2015 has been a good year for Nordic music, and that is definitely reflected in the list of Grammy nominees. Nordic artists cover almost all possible genres – although the Nordic presence hasn’t been very strong in the latin and country fields, which we are willing to forgive.

However, from pop albums and production to metal and contemporary music, there are Nordic names to be found all over the place. In fact, Nordic artists are nominated in 11 categories! So let’s have a look at who are the kings and queens of Nordic music at the Grammys!

Mixing engineer Morten Lindberg and the label 2L (Lindberg Lyd) have great chances of returning from LA with a golden gramophone in their luggage. No less than three of their releases (Magnificat, Spes and Amdahl: Astrognosia & Aesop) are nominated.

Another album in the category, Shostakovich: Symphony No. 7, also has a Nordic touch, since the recorded orchestra was conducted by Finn Paavo Järvi.

Did you get the feeling that something is missing from this list? Something that should be there but isn’t? No worries, we just decided to put Sweden’s Max Martin and ALL OF HIS NOMINATIONS in a category all of their own…
