To kick off December, Coldplay released their 7th studio album, recorded with the help of some of the most prominent names in Nordic music!
Most people might be about to wrap up the year of 2015, but the Nordic releases just keep dropping in. The latest additions to the Trenda: New Nordic Pop playlist include several tracks that are about to blow up in the Nordics, such as ‘Honey’ by Finland’s Evelina, ‘Ghostfriend’ by Denmark’s Fallulah and a nice acoustic version of ‘Paper Thin’ by Astrid S recorded especially for Spotify.
The most noteworthy song among the late Nordic releases of 2015 is probably Tove Lo‘s appearance on the track ‘Fun’, taken from Coldplay‘s latest album A Head Full of Dreams, out on 4th December.
It’s great to see Sweden’s Tove Lo among such prominent names (other collaborators on the album include Beyoncé Knowles and Barack Obama himself), but it’s by no means the first time her name has come up in and amongst those of chart-topping hit makers – as a prolific songwriter herself, Tove’s back-catalogue includes hits for Zara Larsson and Ellie Goulding.
Coldplay picked a Swedish singer to get the right vocals, but in order to make the album sound flawless they turned to Norway’s Stargate – Mikkel Eriksen and Tor Hermansen. The duo produced the whole album (together with producer Rik Simpson) who have an impressive track record themselves, stretching all the way back to the 90’s and producing songs for the likes of Rihanna and Beyoncé – two guys who are indeed responsible for adding plenty of songs to the playlist of hits that are secretly Nordic!
