Christmas will provide a well deserved break for Iceland’s Of Monsters & Men – who have been busily touring the world since the release of their latest album Beneath The Skin earlier this year…

The Icelandic outfit have travelled far and wide to bring the superb tracks from their latest record to their avid fans around the world, and have nurtured a great Nordic touring tradition along the way.

The band are freshly returned from the US, where they’ve been performing around the country alongside Swedish super-group and the latest Nordic Playlist curators, Amason. Now arrived in the UK, the band are set to continue hosting opening sets from some of the Nordic region’s finest stars as they take their show to London’s Brixton Academy supported by not one, but two of Norway’s most exciting talents – Highasakite and Aurora!

We’ve been lucky enough to be joined by both Nanna and Brynjar from Of Monsters & Men in the past, who have both created hand-picked Nordic Playlists recommending their favourite music from the North as well as offering up revealing insights into the making of their music and their artistic methods. Find out more by clicking here, and check out our exclusive video interview with Brynjar just below…

As hand-picking the best Nordic artists to support them at their shows has become such a refined skill for Of Monsters & Men, we highly recommend that you head along to a show (or two!) on their upcoming tour to discover some of the finest live music that the Nordic region has on offer, and in the mean time, you can get to know two of these artists better, right here at the Nordic Playlist…

Highasakite

Highasakite – Fresh from breaking an outstanding record in their native Norway and all set to support Of Monsters & Men on their UK tour, it’s been quite the week for Oslo’s Highasakite! Their sublime record Silent Treatment has now been sitting pretty within the Norwegian album charts for a staggering 93 weeks, making it the longest charting album in the country’s history.

The ambition was to make music that would put us and hopefully the listener in a certain mood, to create images for the listener and make an album with depth – an album you can listen to several times and still discover something new…” was how the band’s lead guitarist Trond Bersu described the album when he curated his own Nordic Playlist, and his ambition has clearly succeeded as the chart-topping record continues to garner acclaim and success not just in Norway, but around the world.

Fans can catch Highasakite performing ahead of Of Monsters & Men in London (24th November), Sheffield (27th), Lincoln (28th) and Newcastle (29th), so make sure to head along to find out just what’s so special about the songs from Silent Treatment
