His album isn’t even out yet, and already Jaakko Eino Kalevi finds himself riding along on a big, puffy cloud made of critical acclaim and love from his fans. With his latest release ‘Hush Down’, we have yet another mouthwatering teaser for his self-titled debut album, due for release on June 15th.
The song charms with a funky scaffolding of beats and snazzy synth pop interludes, feeding off the musical influences from the 70s and 80s and creating a genre mix nobody has considered of putting into the musical baking mould before. Or have you ever expected to hear a song which will remind you of both Boney M. and Kraftwerk at the same time? It sounds like it shouldn’t, but somehow Jaakko’s genre mixology just works.
