At first I thought that Heart/Dancer was just a name that was rather difficult to Google, but it seems that this Swedish act are just so bloomin’ fresh and new that there’s not too much of a back story to give you… and that makes them a very exciting, and unknown, prospect.
Heart/Dancer are Linnéa Atieno and Joakim Buddee, who only started making music together towards the end of last year in a Stockholm studio… but that’s not something you’d be able to tell from their startlingly good first single ‘Waterfalls’. Linnéa and Joakim share vocals on a track that is equal parts atmospheric electronics and unabashed pop; a gloomy guitar riff introduces Atieno’s crisp and clear vocal and the track builds from there, throwing on layers of shimmering synths before the duo’s vocals combine on a heavenly chorus that could only have been crafted in Scandinavia.
There’s more good news in hearing that Heart/Dancer has just signed to the marvellous Sommarhjärta label, and we now also have a video (featuring flares, beautiful countryside and a pair of handsome actors) directed by Jonas Börjesson and Albin Sjödin to accompany the song which will be available on 22nd June.
