This week, London is offering a lot more than just left-overs from last weekend’s Great Escape festival when it comes to Nordic artists! First Aid Kit, who just released a new single called ‘Cedar Lane’, will be in town and on Thursday no less than three bands are set to play around town, so choose well! Or maybe you can make it down to all of them?
Mon 12th May: Baby In Vain – The Old Blue Last, London
Straight from the Great Escape festival, Denmark’s Baby In Vain are hitting the stage in London at the Old Blue Last! While you’re waiting for an album by this trio, make sure to catch the outfit live and let them send you back to the golden age of gritty fuzz rock, where the riffs were enormous and the punk attitude was king.
Tues 13th May: Samaris – Birthdays, London – Tickets
Reykjavik’s Samaris finally released their second album Silkidrangar on One Little Indian Records last Monday! For the electronic vocal trio, this means embarking on a full European tour this spring and summer, taking the band to London’s Birthdays on Tuesday, the 13th of May! Being the only show in the UK, it’s no wonder the show is next to sold out, so make sure to grab tickets soon!
Thurs 15th May: First Aid Kit – Islington Assembly Hall, London – Tickets
Sweden’s incredibly popular folk and country duo First Aid Kit are releasing their third full-length album on the 10th of June, but have already revealed the single ‘Cedar Lane’ – an Americana-inspired track complete with a weeping pedal steel guitar. The duo will be stopping by at the Islington Assembly Hall in London on Thursday the 10th of May together with Jo Rose!
Thu 15th May: Little Dragon – New Slang at McClusky’s, Kingston-Upon-Thames – Tickets
Sweden’s Little Dragon will be invading town armed with synthesizers and soulful vocals this week, as the group is releasing their new album Nabuma Rubberband in Europe and the US. So if you want to dance, be sure to catch them this Thursday the 15th of May at McClusky’s in Kingston, before they head off stateside!
Thu 15th May: Sea Change – Birthdays, London – Tickets
If for some reason you happened to miss out on Norway’s Sea Change during this year’s Great Escape festival, here’s your second chance! Sea Change will be treating the citizens of London to her bombastic, lo-fi electronica together with Fenster at Birthdays on Thursday the 10th of May!
