In this week’s Nordic Gig Guide, we recommend three exclusive shows by Iceland’s Ásgeir, Finland’s Satellite Stories and Norway’s Kygo! Read on to find out more!
Tues 8th Apr: Ásgeir – Union Chapel, London – Sold Out
Touring alongside the likes of Of Monsters and Men and John Grant, singer/songwriter Ásgeir quickly became something of a household name in his native Iceland, where his debut album Dyrd í dauðathogn was a huge critical and commercial success. The talented 21-year-old is now ready to take the UK by storm and starts with a sold-out gig at London’s Union Chapel on April 8th, before heading to Liverpool and Manchester for two more UK dates.
Thurs 10th Apr: The Great Escape Pre Party with Satellite Stories and Baby Strange – Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London – Tickets
Finland’s Satellite Stories just released the video to their latest single ‘Scandinavian Girls’, which will be out in the UK on June 17th via Tri-Tone / PIAS. Before playing The Great Escape Festival in Brighton next month, the band will play at the festival’s Pre Party at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on April 10th, held in association with Music Finland. Scottish rockers Baby Strange will join the Finnish four piece on stage so make sure to join this surely unforgettable night!
Fri 11th Apr: Kygo – Brooklyn Bowl London – Tickets
We are expecting great things from Bergen’s Kygo this year! The self-taught producer (who picked up techniques from observing his favourite artists, along with a healthy helping of YouTube tutorials) has a knack for making remixes of well-known tracks and completely transforming them, as shown with Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’. The Norwegian artist is now preparing to head to the US for his first North American live performances, but he’s making a stop at Brooklyn Bowl London on April 11th first to indulge us with his extraordinary sounds!
More gigs coming up in April:
19 Apr – Agnes Obel at Barbican
24 Apr – Ja Ja Ja presents Suvi, Sebastian Lind & Farao at The Lexington
24 Apr – Ólöf Arnalds at Ace Hotel Shoreditch
30 Apr – Highasakite at Cargo
