Cheek Mountain Thief from Iceland is a new project fronted by Mike Lindsay of the English psych-pop outfit Tunng. Mike is backed up by a full band of young and talented musicians from Iceland, and has just announced the release of their self-titled debut album, due on August 13th via Full Time Hobby. The album’s tracks were mostly conceived in Húsavík, but later on completed in Reykjavík with aid from musician and producer Sindri of Sin Fang, as well as electronica artist Mugison. The album was mixed by Gunni Tynes of the famous six-piece múm, of whom Silla adds guest vocals.
A London show at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre has been confirmed for September 11, where the band will be performing as a seven-piece, with more dates to follow shortly.
