“I think it’s time to talk”, coos Emma Kemppainen of Helsinki’s Le Corps Mince de Françoise. “Time to talk like back in ’94.” And it does feel like exactly that, like we’ve been transported back to the mid-90s, where Jez-like camouflage was the height of fashion and all the cool kids danced like Bez.

I know what you’re thinking – oh no, not 1994 again. That’s the worst era for nostalgia. Kurt Cobain had just died, leaving the likes of Pearl Jam to play around with grunge music’s dead corpse, ‘Four Weddings and A Funeral’ was regarded as classic comedy and Britain had a Prime Minister that would make Gordon Brown look like the jolliest man in the room.

But don’t worry. This is actually the new single from Finland’s bratty synth-pop duo, with a whirlwind of a video directed by Megan Cullen. LCMDF’s ‘Take Me To The Mountains’, taken from their album Love and Nature, is like Le Tigre-esque riot grrl transported from the Portland sidewalks to a grimey Manchester factory. And with their brash brand of mid-nineties electro-pop the band are somehow even able to make Adidas tracksuits look cool and retro.

‘Take Me To The Mountains’ will be released 12 September in digital format, along with remixes by The Orb, Mad Decent, Dj Skeet Skeet, MVSEVM and Get Well Soon. More information can be found on the band’s official website.

LCMDF will be appearing at September’s Ja Ja Ja Club Night which is being held (for one month only) at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London on 29 September. Full details here.

LCMDF are playing a live web-stream concert tonight inside their recording studio. What’s more, there will be live backstage footage, an interview with the girls and the chance for you to choose the setlist. More info can be found here.
