Oslo’s Aact Rraiser (Act Raiser) have already mastered a certain art: Turning a dated sample into the fundamental asset of a joyous, dance-inducing, summer jam. At the very heart of ‘Ghost Princess’ is an almighty, shimmering hook, blasted out from all sides, rooting itself in your head. Among the head-rinsing synths is a saccharine sample, taken from an unlikely source: ‘World Of Her Own’ by The Wake (from 1985 album Here Comes Everybody). ‘Ghost Princess’ strips the original of its twee harmonica and gives it a modern, dance-music gloss and shine. The irresistible end product is something of all-out optimism and happiness.
