From our caravan at Where’s The Music? in Sweden to our cosy lounge at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavík, the Nordic Playlist have this year travelled to the finest music events in the Nordics to offer you exclusive interviews and breathtaking live sessions!

Here at the Nordic Playlist we do our best to give our friends and followers the best insight into what’s happening in the Nordic music scene. We have shared loads of phenomenal music and news from border breaking artists, and 2016 was packed with fantastic Nordic Playlists curated by artists such as Zara LarssonMatoma and Trentemøller!

We have travelled near and far with our purple caravan, live lounge and radio bar to bring you live sessions, exclusive interviews and cosy hang-out spots at some of the hottest events the Nordics have to offer.

As a new year is fast approaching, we are taking a trip down memory lane to revisit all the Nordic Playlist action from 2016!

The Nordic Playlist Caravan heads to Where’s The Music? in Sweden!

The first destination for the Nordic Playlist caravan in 2016 was Where’s The Music? in February! The showcase festival took place in Norrköping, Sweden for the second time, and we were there to greet our friends and followers with Nordic sounds, board games, hot drinks and exclusive interviews.

One of the many hot Nordic acts who swung by our caravan was Swedish pop comet Miriam Bryant, who told us everything about Så mycket bättre, her love for Håkan Hellström and her plans for the year!

Another Swedish artist who joined us for a chat was Maxida Märak who talked about the importance of emotions in regards to her live performances, as well as how she uses her ‘Rebel Music’ as a political weapon to reach a wider audience.

We were also joined by experimental pop rockers Tussilago from Sweden, Danish quartet Blaue Blume and Finland’s electro-pop sensation Venior!

Next stop for the Nordic Playlist Caravan: Oslo and by:larm!

Hei Oslo and hei by:larm! Pretty fresh from an eventful weekend at Where’s The Music?, the Nordic Playlist caravan headed towards Norway and by:larm Festival for more exclusive interviews, some star-filled DJ sets and cosy hang-outs with our friends and followers!

Ahead of the release of their debut album ii, Danish-Finnish collaboration Liima swung by the caravan to talk about how they came together and their upcoming release.

Sheltered away from the snow that was settling in Oslo, we were also joined by Norwegian electro-pop artist ARY, who discussed the way that she goes about creating her music, and the mark she hopes to make of the Norwegian music scene.

In between all the by:larm fun, we also had time to catch up with Oslo’s own Gundelach, dreamy pop artist Maja Francis from Sweden and Norwegian producers Sonny Alven and Hasta!

The Nordic Playlist Caravan teams up with Roskilde Festival!

Our purple and cosy caravan went back on the road again in June for more amazing performances and lovely chats with Nordic artists at Roskilde Festival! Icelandic rap collective Reykjavíkurdætur gave us an iconic performance of ‘Ógeðsleg‘ and Palace Winter played a resonating version of their track ‘Soft Machine‘.

We were also joined by Norwegian wonder child AURORA, who in addition to attending a special Nordic Playlist Pop Quiz, blew our minds with a beautiful live rendition of ‘I Went Too Far‘!

Nordic Playlist curator Júníus Meyvant joined the caravan fun ahead of his much anticipated performance at the festival. The Icelandic troubadour talked about his upcoming album Floating Harmonies before he performed ‘Pearl In Sandbox‘ live for our friends and followers!

That and much more went down at the Nordic Playlist caravan during Roskilde Festival 2016! All live sessions and interviews can be watched on our YouTube channel by clicking here.

Nordic Playlist offers up a cosy lounge at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavík!

After Roskilde we parked the caravan and started preparing for our next big adventure: Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavík! We created a cosy live lounge at Harpa concert hall in the midst of all the Airwaves action, where our friends and followers had the chance to experience incredible live sessions from some truly amazing artists.

In between playing many an Airwaves stage during the festival, chart-climbing Icelandic pop sensation Glowie had time to join us for a stripped back rendition of her fantastic pop track ‘No More‘.

Things escalated quickly when Emmsjé Gauti brought the house down during his session at the Nordic Playlist lounge. The much loved R&B and hip hop artist from Iceland performed tracks such as ‘Silfurskotta’ and ‘Upp’, and impressed everyone with his energetic set!

Other Icelandic artists who joined us during the festival were the brilliant Axel Flovént who performed ‘Your Ghost‘, and Mugison who swung by with some scaled down renditions of his much acclaimed folk-rock tracks.

Þórunn Antonía joins Nordic Playlist at Iceland Airwaves!

In addition to the Nordic Playlist action that went down at Harpa concert hall, we wanted to give our friends and followers a full insight into all the Airwaves happenings. So – we invited the Icelandic musician and media personality Þórunn Antonía to explore the festival on our behalf over the weekend!

The Nordic Playlist Radio Bar heads to Slush Music!

The Nordic Playlist headed to Slush Music in Helsinki in November, streaming a live broadcast from our Radio Bar, giving out cinnamon buns and throwing surprise gigs with some of Finland’s finest emerging artists!

One of many amazing live sets was brought to us by one of Finland’s most exciting rapper Biniyam! He wowed us with his enormous flair and impressive dance moves, and we’re excited to see more from this guy in the future!

Beyond that, we spent our time at the first ever edition of Slush Music pondering upon the future of music. As such, we enlisted the help of Noah Kin, a fantastic rapper from Finland and a previous Nordic Playlist curator, who interviewed some of the key speakers and visionaries from the event, asking about their thoughts on the future of music.

The Nordic Playlist want to thank all our friends and followers for an incredible year and look forward to bring more Nordic music your way in 2017!
