PASHN, apart from being the way angry cockneys mispronounce the word ‘passion’, is also the name of an Icelandic electro-pop duo comprising Ragnhildur Veigarsdóttir and Ása Bjarmarz. Veigarsdóttir actually grew up in LA and Bjarmarz in Sweden, and both are now studying at the Icelandic Academy Of The Arts (Listaháskóli Íslands). They made the finals of the Icelandic Music Experiments (an honour previously held by the likes of Samaris and Vök) with a double set of demos, and they’ve just dropped their official debut single, ‘Weathering A Storm’.
‘Weathering A Storm’ is deep, dark electro-pop. Pulsing, murky synths drive the track forwards, and the crystal-clear vocals cut through the darkness. It manages to perfectly blend a sense of ethereal with a real groove, and bring it all together into a special pop song. Check it out below.
