The 58th Grammy Awards are being handed out in Los Angeles this weekend, and there are several Nordic artists among the nominees!
We’ve seen several international collaborations with and between Nordic artists recently, spanning from global mega releases to co-produced tracks that have gone viral. It’s safe to say that 2015 was a fantastic year for Nordic music, something which is definitely reflected in the list of Grammy nominations – Nordic artists are doing well in every possible genre, from pop albums and production through to metal and classical music
Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson has been nominated in the category Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media for his work on the film The Theory Of Everything. Jóhann already took home the award for the motion picture’s Best Original Score at the Golden Globes last year, so we are excited to see how he’ll do at this year’s Grammys. His latest project, the scoring of action blockbuster ‘Sicario’, has also found immense recognition and is being nominated at this year’s Academy Awards, as well as the BAFTAs for its original music.
Of Monsters and Men’s Deluxe Box Set of the 2015 release Beneath The Skin, which was designed by Leif Podhajsky, is in the running for the Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package Award.
The video to ‘Wolves without Teeth’, one of the album’s tracks, was released just a few weeks ago, continuing the group’s great tradition for creating beautiful visuals to accompany their album tracks. The coming months will see the band head to Colombia, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, so if you’re lucky enough to be located in one of those places, then head out to catch the band’s lively show!
Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw are Galantis, a Swedish songwriting duo which have been active since 2013 and are best known for their 2014 single ‘Runaway (U & I)’. The song’s remix by American record producer Kaskade is nominated in the category Best Remixed Recording. The duo is embarking on a worldwide tour at the moment, and after playing several gigs in Europe they are now heading to the United States where some of the dates are already sold out.
